Botanical Theory designs and hires premium artificial florals for weddings, events and corporate spaces in Melbourne. This page explains what we collect through our website, why, who we share it with, and what you can do about it.
When you fill in a form on our site, we collect what you type into it. Depending on the form that can include your name, email address, phone number, wedding or event date, ceremony and reception venues, guest numbers, your floral selections and budget, your bridal party details, day-of contact names and numbers, and any notes or preferences you share with us.
Some of our forms let you upload images, such as inspiration photos or a venue floor plan. We store those alongside your enquiry.
When you browse the site, we and our analytics providers collect technical information including your IP address, browser and device type, the pages you view, how long you spend on them, how you scroll and what you click, and the website or advertisement that sent you to us.
Google Analytics. We use Google Analytics to understand how people find and use our site so we can improve it. This is aggregated reporting, not individual profiling. You can opt out across all websites using the Google Analytics opt-out add-on.
Meta Pixel. We use the Meta Pixel to measure whether our Facebook and Instagram advertising is working, and to show our ads to people who have shown interest in us. Meta may match this activity to your Facebook or Instagram account. You can control this through your Meta ad preferences.
Our own attribution cookie. We set a first-party cookie that lasts 90 days. It records how you first arrived at our site, for example from a Google search, a Meta ad or a direct visit, along with the page you landed on. We use it so that when you send us an enquiry we know where it came from. It holds no name, email or other identifying detail.
You can clear or block cookies through your browser settings. The site will still work if you do.
We use what you give us to respond to your enquiry, prepare a quote, design and deliver your florals, coordinate with your venue and vendors on the day, send you the copy of your selection or checklist that you asked for, and keep in touch about your booking.
We use the automatically collected information to understand which parts of the site are useful, to measure our advertising, and to decide where to spend our marketing budget.
We only send marketing emails if you have asked us to or have enquired with us, and every one has an unsubscribe link.
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only with the services we need to run the business:
Some of these providers store data outside Australia, including in the United States. By using our site and sending us an enquiry you consent to that transfer. We may also disclose information where the law requires it.
Enquiries and form submissions are kept for as long as we have an active relationship with you, and then for up to seven years afterwards so we can meet our tax and record keeping obligations. Analytics data is retained for 14 months. You can ask us to delete your information sooner and we will, unless we are required to keep it.
Our site runs over an encrypted connection and access to the systems holding your information is limited to the people who need it. No method of transmitting or storing data is completely secure, so while we take reasonable steps to protect your information we cannot guarantee it absolutely.
You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, correct anything that is wrong, delete it, or stop sending you marketing. Email [email protected] and we will respond within a reasonable time.
If you are not happy with how we have handled your information, raise it with us first. If we cannot resolve it you can complain to the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner at oaic.gov.au.
Our services are intended for adults. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has given us their details, email us and we will remove them.
We update this policy from time to time. The date at the top of this page tells you when it last changed. If we make a significant change we will say so here.
